Use of Third-Party Material in Open-Access Books and Chapters
Authors retain the copyright of all open-access books or chapters published by MediHealth Academy Publishing under a Creative Commons license.

Authors considering publishing their books or chapters through immediate open-access should carefully evaluate whether they need to include third-party material in their manuscripts.

Third-Party Materials refer to content that is owned and copyrighted by external parties. This can include, but is not limited to, proprietary texts, illustrations, tables, or other materials such as data, audio, video, film stills, screenshots, musical notation, and any other supplementary content.

Third-party material is only permissible in an open-access book or chapter if the following conditions are met:

  • The inclusion of the material has been discussed with and agreed upon by the editorial contact;
  • The necessary permissions have been obtained to make the content available in an open-access format (preferably under the same Creative Commons license as the open-access content, or at a minimum, approval from the rights holder to include the material in an open-access publication);
  • Clear captions are provided for all third-party material, with proper acknowledgment of the source and license terms.
